Infrastructure
The site is located at an altitude of 240 meters, from the picture that appears before the eyes of many visitors, it literally takes their breath away. However, it is worth coming here not only for the sake of beautiful landscapes and stunning pictures. The organizers tried to think over the infrastructure in order to immerse visitors in the world of Palm Jumeirah itself – the history of its creation, the originality of the project, the variety of its architectural solutions and entertainment opportunities.
On the way to the site, you need to go through a tunnel with an interactive aquarium. It delights not only children, but also adults, already setting them up for an unusual spectacle that lies ahead. Then visitors enter a room with a luminous floor, the outlines of the island on which they are gradually emerging on it. A pleasant surprise – everyone can virtually participate in the construction of the island thanks to special effects. You need to stand with your feet on a certain illuminated area and follow the crumbling sand, from which the shape of the island in the form of a palm tree looms.
The next location on the way to the site will be a spacious hall, which shows a short film about the construction of the Palm Jumeirah. Next you need to go to a small museum with stands and exhibits that allow you to trace the stages of construction and development of the island. Its creation is connected with the need to expand the coastline of Dubai for the development of tourism.
Construction work began in 2001, the originality of the man-made island in its shape. If you look at it from a height, you can see that its silhouette looks like a palm tree – it has a trunk and 16 branches-leaves (8 on each side). To protect the island from storms, a crescent-shaped breakwater was invented, stretching for 11 km. During the construction, it was possible to do without reinforced concrete structures, sand and stones served as the material. The museum presents the equipment with which the work was carried out, in particular vibrators used to compact sand.
Work was completed in 2006, then gradual development began on the island. Now it is replete with a huge number of hotels, skyscrapers, luxury villas, shopping and entertainment centers, beach clubs. To revitalize the stone jungle, green areas with parks were created. It is connected with the mainland by a bridge, a half-moon breakwater is connected to the top of a palm tree through an underwater tunnel.
Impressed by the boldness of the project and the professionalism of its implementation, you can move on to the main attraction – the observation deck itself with a 360-degree view. From it you can appreciate the original shape of the island, its components, consider the most large-scale buildings and at the same time survey the surroundings. The site has an open area with glass railings, pleasant background music plays here. To view individual objects in more detail, you can use stationary binoculars.
